A fun mini-adventure to Fowey, consisting of 2 evenings aboard. Experience enjoyable sailing with a good amount of time ashore to enjoy the shops, pubs and restaurants.
Your sail to Fowey (pronounced foy) starts when you check into your own double cabin the evening before we set sail. (You can also arrive the morning you set sail.) After breakfast, we introduce you to the yacht and various safety aspects – this takes no more than an hour. At around 10:30 am, it’s time to head out and hoist the mainsail. The voyage to Fowey usually lasts around 5 hours. Everyone is welcome to get involved with sail trimming and helming, whilst taking in the views of the beautiful South West coastline.
Once moored in Fowey, an enjoyable evening ashore is guaranteed. You will find plenty of pubs to visit, including The Ship Inn (the oldest pub in Fowey), The Galleon (perfectly situated on the Fowey estuary) and The Lugger Inn (a friendly, traditional pub with a good atmosphere). For a special evening meal, you may choose to visit the waterfront restaurant at The Old Quay House.
The next day, before your journey back to Plymouth, you may choose to amble through the old, narrow streets or head across the water to Polruan Back Beach (beautifully situated opposite Fowey) or Ready Money Cove (where you can spot the Coach House, once home to Daphne Du Maurier).
We’ll make sure you’re back at your starting location by 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon, leaving you plenty of time to travel home.
Overnighters also run during the week – same format, different days!
“Nick was a brilliant and patient teacher, giving us a wonderful experience and sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge. We had lots of fun while learning how to sail and navigate the yacht. Can highly recommend.”
