Looking for an exciting family adventure? Our RYA Training for the Family course offers flexibility and fun throughout your holiday, with hands-on learning experiences for all ages.

This bespoke sailing experience is a fun and safe way to introduce your children to sailing whilst developing the skills of the adults in the group. For example, 1 adult may choose to undertake RYA Day Skipper, while another adult may wish to gain their RYA Competent Crew qualification. In the meantime, children may wish to take their RYA Start Yachting course as an introduction to sailing. There are a number of options for our RYA Training for the Family courses. Contact us directly to discuss your personal requirements and we will find the right combination just for you.

Our large, modern yachts with 3 double cabins (1 ensuite) and 2 heads make a comfortable base for a family of 4 (with your skipper sleeping in the saloon area). Upon your arrival at our base location, King Point Marina in Plymouth, you will be welcomed by Devon Sailing Experiences staff and taken aboard your high quality, spacious yacht which will become your home for the next 5 nights. Within the secure gates of your small, contemporary marina you will find shower facilities maintained to the highest standard. Made up of 10 private wet rooms, they all boast underfloor heating with clothes washing and drying facilities also available.

King Point marina is conveniently located just a 5-minute taxi ride from Plymouth mainline train station. It is ideally situated within a 20-minute walk from Royal William Yard and The Barbican where you will find a selection of local pubs and restaurants. If you and your family wish to stay closer to the marina, you will find a The Dock Restaurant situated overlooking Plymouth Sound where you can sit and enjoy a family meal whilst enjoying the view of the yachts.

When you take part in our RYA training for the family, not only will you be working to achieve your official RYA qualifications, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful and sought-after holiday locations in the south-west. Local destinations include the quaint Cornish town of Fowey, the pretty small town of Falmouth, stylish Salcombe with its high-quality bars, restaurants and independent shops, and the peaceful River Yealm. With all of these destinations achievable during your RYA training for the family (subject to conditions), how could there possibly be a better location to gain your RYA qualifications? If you are still unsure about whether to book, do take a look at our 5-star rated TripAdvisor reviews or call us to discuss your options.

Important note: minimum ages and levels of experience apply to some RYA courses. Please refer to our RYA Day Skipper, RYA Competent Crew and RYA Start Yachting pages for key course information and requirements.

For the comfort of all of our guests, our yachts are designated non-smoking to maintain their high-quality.

Plymouth is the starting location for our RYA Training for Families. Arrive at 18:00 the evening before you set sail.
