When you book a mileage building weekend, Devon provides the ultimate starting location for you. With our base conveniently located within a 5-minute taxi ride from Plymouth mainline train station, we are easily accessible from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Exeter.
Mileage building is designed to give you an immersive sailing and crew management experience. You will be required to function below decks preparing food and drink whilst we are on the move, as well as take longer spells at the helm, and assist in creating a passage plan for the weekend.
Mileage building will include longer passages, possibly through the night. These will require watchkeeping and watch rotation – ideal if you are working towards a Yachtmaster qualification.
To join us, we will expect you to have had some experience of sailing and crewing at sea, but qualifications are not required. This experience can be used to push your limits a little and gain valuable experience in going that bit further as a skipper or crew.
Our passages are run when the weather and conditions can be more challenging, usually from September. However, this does not mean we will go out in any weather – your safety will be our number one priority!
Your skipper will be an experienced Yachtmaster Offshore who will be able to help you gain confidence in your ability as skipper or crew.
We undertake these passages using our Jeanneau 409 (42′) sailing yacht.

Typical student to instructor ratio is 3:1. Maximum instructor ratio is 4:1.
