Description

Our day sail experiences from Plymouth are a great option for people who want to give sailing a try, or perhaps just want a fun day out on the water. You don’t need any prior experience to come sailing with us, and you can get involved as much (or as little!) as you like. Even if you have sailed before, our day sail experiences give you an ideal opportunity to brush up on your skills and increase your confidence on the water.

If you can’t see a suitable date, just email us to request one.

During your day sail, you will sail our 42′ sailing yacht in the sheltered waters of Plymouth Sound. Our experienced skippers will encourage you to helm, drop the anchor and trim the sails. Because we will only book a maximum of 5 guests onboard your day sail, you have plenty of hands-on experience.

Devon offers the most beautiful coastline, all accessible from our enviable starting location: Plymouth. As part of your day sail, you may choose to head towards Cawsands or Kingsands, Cornwall – a beautiful, sheltered bay where you can drop the anchor for lunch. In favourable conditions, you may head up the tranquil and unspoilt River Yealm, nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).

Conveniently located at King Point Marina in Plymouth, we are just a 5-minute taxi ride from Plymouth mainline train station. Travelling by car from the South Hams (including Salcombe, Modbury, Bigbury Bay and Totnes) or Cornwall (Cawsands, Kingsands and Looe)? You will find pay and display parking conveniently located opposite the marina.

Let the wind fill the sails. Take the helm and see the world from a different perspective.

Includes: Hot and cold drinks throughout the day.

Please refer to the Additional Information section for restrictions. Over 16s only.

Additional information

Times

Meet us at 9:30. You will set sail after a safety briefing then return to the marina at approximately 16:00.

What to bring

Layers of warm clothing (even in the summer), waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, flat non-marking shoes, towel, soft travel bag (as hard bags are difficult to stow), sun cream and sunglasses. You should also bring a packed lunch.

Included

Skipper fees, mooring fees and fuel.
Hot and cold drinks will be provided throughout the day.

Car Parking

You are welcome to enter the car park next to the marina to drop off passengers and bags but will need to relocate your car to a nearby pay and display car park. The Brunel Way Car Park (a 5-minute walk to the marina) or Weston Approach Car Park (an 11-minute walk away from the marina) are the closest.

Cancellation

Please refer to the Terms and Conditions on our website. You are strongly recommended to take out insurance in the event of your cancellation outside our Terms and Conditions.

Devon Sailing Experiences may need to cancel upon advice received from the Skipper based on forecast sailing conditions. You will be notified 3 days prior to your sail. In this case, please refer to our Terms and Conditions which can be found on our website.

Important

We are only able to run day sailing experiences with a minimum of 4 guests. In 2021, 100% of our day sails ran with at least the minimum guest requirement.

Suitable for ages 16 years and over.
