Ever considered setting sail to the Isles of Scilly? If this is your ambition (and you have had previous sailing experience), this group sailing opportunity is the ideal choice for you.
Arrive at King Point Marina the evening before you set sail to the Isles of Scilly. Your skipper will introduce you to your modern, high-quality, 42′ flagship yacht. With your own double cabin, cosy bedding and onboard heating, your overnight accommodation will provide a comfortable living space for the week. After meeting your fellow crew-mates and enjoying a good night’s sleep onboard the yacht, you will set sail for your first destination….
…and that is where the plan ends!
How your week continues depends on the wind, the tide, and how far you would like to go.
When you choose to sail to the Isles of Scilly, flexibility is the key; this beautiful destination requires careful planning and the right conditions to approach and moor. It is important to remember that your skipper will make every effort to reach this destination, however, their decision about whether it is attainable is final. Your safety and comfort is their number one priority, therefore they have the right to amend your sail to the Isles of Scilly to a west-country cruise.
We aim to complete your sail to the Isles of Scilly in 2 legs: typically Plymouth to Helford River (approx 7 hours) then Helford River to the Isles of Scilly (10-12 hours). Helford River is an unspoilt estuary nestled between Falmouth and Lizard Point – a beautiful place to moor overnight with its sheltered valleys and hidden creeks. Due to the length of passages during this adventure, previous sailing experience is necessary. As always, your fully-qualified yacht master skipper will be on hand to achieve the best experience and make the decisions that are key to arrival and safe passage.
Upon reaching your final destination after your sail to the Isles of Scilly, you will be rewarded with plenty of stunning anchorages and moorings throughout the collection of islands. St Mary’s is the largest of the islands, with Hugh Town being the central hub with its cluster of shops, restaurants and pubs. Tresco, with its dramatic rocky outcrops and secluded beaches, is the home of the world famous Tresco Abbey Gardens. Crystal clear waters and idyllic beaches are plenty on St Martin’s which is just 2 miles long, whereas the untamed island of Bryher is home to the luxurious Hell Bay Hotel which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. St Agnes is totally untamed and unspoilt and offers a peaceful environment.
There are plenty of other locations available to explore en-route during your sail to the Isles of Scilly. You may choose to call into the historical harbour town of Fowey where you can pick up a mooring buoy before heading off to one of the local pubs or restaurants for the evening. Perhaps you would prefer to head directly to Falmouth which offers a choice of a bustling town marina mooring or a quieter marina further up the river for you to spend your night. Wherever your sailing takes you, we will ensure you are back in Plymouth by 4 pm on your final sailing day, with plenty of time to catch your train home.
Included: 7-nights accommodation onboard the yacht, breakfast and light lunches taken aboard the yacht, hot and cold drinks, bedding, mooring fees, fuel, skipper fees.
Time: 7 sailing days (shown on the calendar). Meet at 18:00 the evening before you sail.
