These are our Booking Terms and Conditions for BAREBOAT CHARTERS. 

Definitions
BAREBOAT CHARTER – The hire of one of our yachts for your own use subject to experience and qualifications.

  1. Booking
    1.1 Once Devon Sailing Experiences Bareboat Charter receives your enquiry, we will check availability and contact you to confirm the booking.
    1.2 Your booking is not secured until we contact you to confirm and a 20% deposit has been received. Please do not book any travel arrangements until you have received confirmation of your booking.
  2. Payments
    2.1 Payments can be made by card or bank transfer. The transaction will show as Floating Point Solutions.
    2.2 The balance of the fee is due 8 weeks before the charter begins. If a booking is made less than 8 weeks before the start of the voyage, then full payment will be taken at that time.
    2.3 In the event that any fees due remain unpaid within 7 days of the date by which the Final Payment is due, DSE reserves the right to cancel your booking without any obligation to give you notice thereof.
    2.4 Security deposits ranging from £1000-£1500 are required for BAREBOAT CHARTERS. We can take a pre-authorisation on a credit/debit cards for a £10 admin fee.
  3. Included/not included in your charter
    3.1 Included: All safety equipment, lifejackets and harnesses and gas.
    3.2 Not included: Outboards are not included except by arrangement.
  4. If you wish to cancel a BAREBOAT CHARTER
    4.1 If you cancel your BAREBOAT CHARTER within 14 days of paying your deposit and at least 8 weeks prior to departure, you’ll receive a full refund. DSE has the right to charge you an administration fee of £50.00 per crew member. A deposit will become non-refundable 14 days after the date of booking.
    4.2 If you cancel a BAREBOAT CHARTER less than 8 weeks before the start of, or after the commencement of your BAREBOAT CHARTER then you will be liable for the full cost of the booking. In all cases, if we are able to resell your cancelled booking, we will reimburse you the full cost less the deposit.
    4.3 You are strongly recommended to take out travel insurance to cover yourself should you need to cancel.
  5. If we have to cancel a BAREBOAT CHARTER
    5.1 In the unlikely event that we are forced to cancel due to unusual and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, (Force Majeure, including very strong winds forecast), we will endeavour to offer an alternative voyage at a mutually agreeable date.
    5.2 If we have to cancel a voyage due to any other reasons, e.g. mechanical failure, then a full refund or an alternative voyage will be offered.
    5.3 In all cases, our liability is limited to offering a refund only up to the amount paid and we will have no further liability to you in respect of consequential economic loss.
  6. Insurance
    6.1 Yachts are covered by professional insurance that includes third-party liability. This does not cover you for any loss or damage to your property not attributable to our negligence or defects in the vessel.
    6.2 We strongly recommend you take out your own travel insurance to cover as a minimum, medical and personal accident expenses, loss and damage to personal effects, covers sailing over 12 Nautical Miles offshore and cancellation. We also strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance in the case of cancellation outside our terms and conditions.
  7. Eligibility for BAREBOAT CHARTERS
    7.1 To book a bareboat charter you must fulfil the following criteria. Refunds will not be given for not being able to meet the criteria: (a) Day Skipper practical and theory (b) Skippered experience in tidal waters (c) Competent boat handling under power.
  8. Yacht Hand Over
    8.1 A 2-hour initial boat handover will be required. The handover includes: (a) Safety briefing, including gear locations and use (b) Basic boat controls (c) Reefing (d) Using the boat under engine
    8.2 We reserve the right to refuse bareboat charter if necessary. In the event of a refusal, we will offer the boat skipper chartered at an additional £230 per day.
    8.3 You will need to sign a charter agreement (which you can view on our website) before we release the yacht to you.
  9. Cruising Area
    9.1 Area bounded by Exmouth to the Channel Islands in the East to Scillies in the West. We regret yachts may NOT visit Mevagissey as the harbour wall can cause considerable fender and gel coat damage.
    9.2 Drying harbours are out of bounds, including Looe and Polperro.
    9.3 Any cruising limit extension must be agreed in writing at the time of booking. Additional charges may apply. You will be asked for a basic passage plan on the day of arrival.
  10. Returning your yacht
    10.1 The boat will be returned fully fuelled. A charge of £100 + fuel cost will be charged should you not comply.
    10.2 The yacht should be returned in the same condition that it was given to you – clean and fully functioning. We reserve the right to charge for post-charter cleaning should the yacht be left in an unsatisfactory condition.
    10.3 Optional end of charter cleaning is available for £100.
