At Devon Sailing Experiences, we believe that along with the west coast of Scotland, the South West coast is one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the UK, with idyllic harbours, historic ports, stylish locations and a city all within easy reach.
Dartmouth – An historic Elizabethan port and home to Britannia Royal Naval College where the Queen met her husband. Plenty to see and do.
Salcombe – A beautiful location with beaches on the East Portlemouth side. Pubs and restaurants in spades. The place to be during the summer months.
Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers – Tucked away in the river Yealm you will find Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. These idyllic villages are unspoilt and amongst the most attractive anywhere in the UK.
Plymouth – Historic port and the only city we visit. A lively place with lots of bars and attractions.
Cawsands – This quaint, historical fishing village with winding streets and picture postcard cottages comes alive at night in the handful of turn-of-the-century pubs and inns.
Fowey – A favourite our ours, with records dating back to the 11th century. Take a look at a youtube video.
Falmouth – A large, pretty town with beaches, and dripping in history.
St Mawes – Small but active fishing village located at the end of the Roseland Peninsula.
Mylor – One of the best marina locations on the SW coast; tranquil and within easy reach of the village or Falmouth. Video about Mylor Yacht Harbour.
“I went sailing in the summer for 5 days and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Mick, the skipper, was a great guy; he was really relaxed and knew his stuff. He provided us with advice about the best locations to visit during the week but ultimately it was up to us, and the places we visited didn’t disappoint. Each night he left us on the boat, which was great and we got the boat to ourselves just to chill. Overall, a great weeks sailing and would highly recommend it to anyone.”

From the get go Stewart was friendly, informative and professional.The yacht was a beauty and Stewart took me around her explaining as he went.Once out into Plymouth Sound he put me completely at ease as well as explaining everything we were doing and why.We went here there and everywhere around Plymouth Sound following the wind.Great anchor spot in a bay with a bit of lunch and our quest for wind continued.It definitely ignited a real passion to explore sailing further!AAA Experience Thank you Stewart and Devon Sailing Experiences for a truly unforgettable day. I took my little brother on this trip as a birthday present and we had a great time! We were able to get stuck in and help out, but this was not mandatory! You could sit down and get comfy and enjoy the trip if you’d like, but we wanted to get stuck in and learn. Great skipper, fantastic boat and just an all round great experience, highly recommend! This was our second day sail, although a few years apart! It was purchased as a retirement gift. Our skipper was Stewart who was very knowledgeable (as you would expect). A great day out, although the cloud cover meant we did not see the best of the coastline. It was lots of fun especially the morning when the wind was very favourable and allowed us to reach good speed which added to the excitement. The other guys added to the day as well. I am a 64 year old Plymouth man who was brought up around small craft including sailing yachts, as a yougnster and in adult life owned a couple of small cabin cruisers myself. Notwithstanding this, I have always said to my Wife that I would like to have a go a sailing a proper ocean going sailing yacht. As a birthday gift she purchased a day's sailing on board the Devon Sailing yacht, Bewitched. Whilst a little sceptical of such an experience living up to my expectations, I duly turned up with an open mind and full of excitment and expectation. Our Skipper for the day, Stewart, met myself and my three fellow crew members at KIng Point Marina, showed us around the maggnificent vessel and delivered his obligatory safety briefing as cheerfully and as interestingly as humanley possible. What followed was a superb, action packed day of proper sailing under the expert supervision and tuition of what became clear, was a vastly experieced and competent skipper. From the adrenalin rush of changing tack whilst the yacht's heeling over at 8 knots, to the tranqui lunch in Cawsand Bay I had an absolutely stunning day! Our 5 day sailing experience was everything I hoped for. The winds were light and the sun shining. We were able to sail most days between Plymouth and Falmouth and on the last day the wind got up. Katie and team were very helpful at every stage, even suggesting hire of sailing gear and picking it up for me. Our skipper Stewart was experienced, knowledgeable and kind. We have just returned from a superb sailing trip to the Scillies. Our skipper Mick was excellent, he ensured that we got the maximum benefit of a very hands on sailing experience as well as visiting the beautiful islands. His professionalism, attention to safety and detail could not be faulted. He was also great company to be with.Bewitched is a lovely yacht, clean and well maintained.This is the 3 rd time we have sailed with Devon sailing and the 2 nd time with Mick, the other instructor Guy was also excellent.We highly recommend them as a company and the trip to the Scillies as a “mile building” week end.We definitely plan to sail with them again. My husband got his day skipper qualification last year but we wanted to gain some more experience ahead of our first bareboat charter in Greece this summer.
