Description

If you are planning a sailing holiday charter in the Mediterranean or Europe, you will need an International Certificate of Competence (or ICC). Devon Sailing Experiences is an assessment centre for your ICC. Join us for a day to complete your assessment.

Your ICC provides evidence of competence when sailing inland waterways and coastal waters of Europe and assessment is suitable for skippers with practical yachting experience and navigation skills. You will need to show your ICC when requested by officials during your charter in the Mediterranean and Europe. An ICC is required by most reputable companies when you charter in the Mediterranean, such as Sunsail, Nautilus, The Moorings and Neilson.

Join Devon Sailing Experiences aboard a spacious 41′ yacht, Bewitched. From the moment you join us at King Point Marina, Plymouth, you will immediately notice that your spotlessly clean yacht is maintained to the highest standard. This provides a high-quality platform for you to complete your assessment with an RYA Yachtmaster Sailing Instructor whilst demonstrating the skills required to keep you safe and confident during your charter abroad.

Before booking your ICC assessment prior to your charter in the Mediterranean or your charter abroad, you will need to ensure your sailing and navigation knowledge is up to speed. We recommend purchasing the RYA Day Skipper Handbook or attending our RYA Day Skipper course. You will need to show that you are familiar with basic collision regulations, safety onboard, weather forecasting, basic chart work and pilotage. The ICC assessment criteria can be found on the RYA website.

Whilst completing your ICC assessment with Devon Sailing Experiences, Devon and Cornwall will provide your spectacular scenery and sailing ground. In addition, you will enjoy the convenience of finding us located close to Plymouth mainline train station – our base location, King Point Marina in Plymouth, is less than 5-minutes away in a taxi. This small, modern marina offers high quality, well-maintained washing and showering facilities for you to use.

If  you would like to know if booking with Devon Sailing Experiences is right for you, take a look at our 5-star rating on TripAdvisor to see what our past guests have had to say. Alternatively, just call us for a chat.

For the comfort of all of our guests, our yachts are designated non-smoking to maintain their high-quality.

Key ICC course information can be found under the Additional Information tab.

Typical student to instructor ratio is 2:1.
